[REVIEW] VARIANT PLAY ARTS KAI - No.1 BATMAN

The dark knight turns all ninja in this newly released Play Arts Kai (PAK) series. What could be more epic than a katana wielding Batman? It has been a dream come true, at least for me as I am a sucker for figures with sword. I'll just call this Ninja Bats in future post for easier referencing.

Box, front.

I would like to focus on the artwork of this PAK release, note that every PAK release comes with a flap cover, usually they will show the actual figure, however, for this Variant series, they actually created a portrait instead, very nice detail.

Box, back.

Batman is release alongside 2 other DC Universe heroes, non other than Green Lantern and Wonder Woman (can be seen in the picture above). Initially I've pre-ordered both Batman and Wonder Woman, however the price tag isn't very appetizing hence I had to pick one between the bats / Amazon princess. I went with bats as I mentioned before, I am sucker for blades.

Behind the flap cover, it contains a short back story and description of the character.

this is how the packaging looks, it comes with a beautifully designed bat logo.
Comes with a standard PAK stand (however, not all PAK comes with a stand, only the newer PAK comes with the stand)

the front, side and back view of the figure. T here are blue shading all over the figure, as can be seen from the picture above. The sculpture of the figure is marvellous, and the paint job is just superb. it does not look too awkward from the side, unlike some other Play Arts Kai (PAK), the joints are well hidden thanks to the armor design and colour application.

Accessories
Batman comes with a variety of accesories, which includes a katana (whooping 16cm long), a golden colored batarang, a large ass gun, 3 left and 2 right arms to swap with. As for as accessories goes, this is considered generous as some PAK only comes witth 2 extra hands (e.g. PAK Kazuya Mishima etc.)

This figure is pretty stable, the cape is actually study enough to support the figure, as shown in the picture above, the figure can stand with one leg without having to rely on the stands provided.

Take note that the armor gives a different effect when shot in a different environment. This shot was taken in a dark environmental settings, which actually gives a reflective effect on the armor.

The sharp claws on the gauntlets are made of soft rubbery material, they are pretty elastic.
*** note in some of the pictures I took it look kinda shiny, kudos to the awesome paint job.

Behind the cape lies a very detailed looking metallic spine, which is pretty impressive, if you ask me.

The Cape comes with ball join as well, it can be move left, right and can be rotated backward to show some wind blowing effect.

At the tip of the cape, you can see hooks attached to the cape, it is pretty impressive with such a detailed. I've actually seen a review video, the hook is glued on, however you can still remove it.

upper torso and head, close up.

Lower part and torso, close-up.

The belt area, up-close. The belt actually hangs around the waist, made of soft rubbery material.

Batman receiving his newly crafted Katana.

Using some angle trick to make the sword look longer.

A lot of pose-ability with the accessories given. The design of the not-sure-if-its-a-grapple-gun is superb.

An alternate shot.

Introducing the golden batarng, the paint actually gives out a shiny effect. One thing about the figure, he can only wiled his weapons using his the right hand as its the only hands capable of doing so, hopefully in the future release will consider adding an option for left hand as well. (not to mention he can then wield both katana and the big ass gun together).

Verdict:
Just like other PAKs, there is so much you can do with this figure. The joints are well hidden, and the sculpture is amazing. This is probably the 2nd best PAK which tops the chart, I still prefer Metal Gear Rising Raiden over this.  The scaling of this version

Just like any other PAK, there is some flaw on the right elbow, some of the coating were torn, but anyhow this is a known issue for the PAK line. Overall this is still a very impressive figure, and a must get.
